Massachusetts Leads the Nation in Recognizing Prostate Cancer as a Public Health Priority and Leading Disparity
At Thursday’s 9th Annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Day: Governor, Elected Officials, Prostate Cancer Experts, Advocates to Come Together at State House Event
BOSTON, MA, June 7, 2017— AdMeTech Foundation will convene Governor Charlie Baker, Senate President Stanley Rosenberg, Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, other elected officials, Prostate Cancer Action Council, leaders of medicine, advocacy and community organizations for the 9th Annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Day on Thursday at the State House. This event leads the nation in recognizing prostate cancer as a public health priority and a leading disparity.
Prostate Cancer Awareness Day is an integral part of AdMeTech’s goal to create a Massachusetts model of national leadership in prostate cancer research, education and awareness by bringing cutting-edge advances in prostate cancer care from the world-leading hospitals to every man.
This event is dedicated to memory of Senator Kenneth Donnelly, one of the original organizers of this event since 2009, who was struck by prostate cancer at an earlier age.
At the event, prostate cancer crisis in men with African heritage will be highlighted, and experts from Boston University and University of Massachusetts Schools of Medicine and Greater Boston Urology will participate in the expert panel to review the emerging advances in screening, diagnosis and treatment that are transforming patient care and aimed at eliminating health disparities.
AdMeTech Foundation organized this event in cooperation with Prostate Cancer Action Council, including American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, Center for Elimination of Health and Social Inequities and Disparities, Massachusetts Prostate Cancer Coalition, Men of Color Health Awareness, and New England Area Conference of NAACP.. Sponsors include Bayer, Hitachi, Sotio, Greater Boston Urology and Genomic Health.
