The House and Senate may be at odds over rules that cover the flow of legislation, but lawmakers from both branches are in agreement for more awareness of early detection of prostate cancer.
Marathon legend and prostate cancer survivor Bill Rodgers supports the AdMeTech Foundation, which brings together leaders in the Legislature, medicine, advocacy, and education to create a Massachusetts model of national leadership in prostate cancer awareness, education, care, and research.
Gov. Charlie Baker has proclaimed April 16, 2015 Massachusetts Prostate Cancer Awareness Day and he and nine other legislators, including Representatives Benjamin Swan (D-Springfield), and Stephen Kulik, (D-Worthington), who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2002, appear in a related video, “We All Agree 2015,”by the non-profit AdMeTech Foundation.
Univision TV, which has an extensive outreach in the Massachusetts Hispanic community, covered 7th Annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Day, highlighting 40% higher mortality in the Hispanic community in Boston compared to state average and the importance of early detection in saving lives.
This coverage featured several event speakers, including Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker; Felix Arroyo, Boston’s Chief of Health and Human Services; Dr. Faina Shtern, President and CEO of AdMeTech Foundation; and Dr. Adam Feldman, a prostate cancer experts, who represented Department of Urology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Men’s Health Committee, Massachusetts Medical Society.
